I must ask this question. Doesn't a fish stink from the head down??
It is
a simple question, a simple question with an obvious answer. YES!
Circuit City
must be run by men with small penises. It is the only explanation I
have.Why
else are they so rude?
Have you ever seen a more rude group that the sales
force at Circuit City?
I am sure that many of the sales people are nice, but
I have yet to meet them.
I have only met jerks with less product knowledge than
attitude. They are little children over
their heads in the deep end of the pool
refusing help. In fact, they get angry if
you even try. I once, very nicely,
corrected a sales man who then actually yelled at me..
He had pointed to an AC-3
ready receiver and INSISTED it was an AC-3 receiver.
It needed a decoder. But
he would have none of it. I wanted to see the $399.00
Yamaha AC-3 receiver,
but he kept insisting that this other AC-3 Ready receiver for $349
was just as
good.. I explained the difference and he yelled at me, NO your WRONG!
I am sure
this putz owns a BOSE system...
Anyway.. This may only be tangentally about
DVD, but they are the largest
AV store in this area.. I DO boycott them, but
will go back to buy DVD'S after
DIVX dies..
The real point here is that
the management of Circuit City allows this to happen,
allows these little jerks
to treat their customers with disdain and disregard. I
spend on this this hobby,
and I spend alot, just ask my wife, but I will never understand
why Circuit City
doesn't want my money. .
What the hell is the deal with the pan and scan releases from MGM
and Warner??
Don't buy this crap..
Speaking of crap.. The
Digital Bits reports that there were 4 DIVX players sold
in the test market
at good guys.. 4 too many if you ask me, but is it bad enough to
prevent the
national rollout??? Will they roll out KNOWING that it will fail??
Are there contractual
obligations to roll out nationally?? I wonder if they are trying to avoid
the
embarrassment of a national rollout... A really loud thud, such as DIVX will make,
will hurt Circuit City stock worse than no rollout... They will save the cost
of the rollout.
They KNOW it will fail. The Stockholders will appreciate the
savings. Swallow
the loss now boys... Move on and sell REAL DVD only.
About
the Pan and scan releases from MGM and Warners.. I can't believe that P&S
titles will do well
in a market still dominated by Early adopters and Videophiles.
So, are we growing to the point
that Joe six pack is entering the market
in such numbers that P&S titles are economical feasible???
I mean, is that
a good thing or a bad thing?? And what does that mean for that future?? Does this
mean that as
the market matures that the studios plan P&S only titles as
the standard?? I really think that having BOTH
formats NEEDS to become the accepted
standard. I believe that we must NOT BUY THESE TITLES!!!
MAKE THEM KNOW WE WON'T
TOLERATE THIS CRAP!
On a brighter note, South
Park on DVD... Sort of like hanging a Van Gough in a double wide trailer...
But
I can't wait... Cartman getting an anal probe in dolby digital... Just too much too
hope for.....
I would like to apologize for tardy updates.. My day job is taking too much time
up..
Maybe I should quit... :>
ROBOCOP is coming!
The directors cut is coming in an
overpriced, but excellent criterion version
Sept 16... The version contains
several minutes cut to avoid an "X"
rating. Ironically, the extra
footage, while VERY gory, actually makes the film
feel LESS
violent and more over the top comical. VERY BLACK COMEDY.
I intend
on buying this. Especially since I accidentally stepped on
my LD version :>
I have been SO busy.. This webmaster stuff is a LOT of work.. really.
I was
most happy to hear that Peter Jackson, the gifted and twisted man
who gave us
Heavenly Creatures, The Frighteners, and the soon to DVD
Dead Alive(YUCK!), will
be making Lord of The Rings as a VERY expensive
live action film... When I read
that New Line was making it My first thought was
that the DVD will be killer!!!
We'll have to wait until X-Mas 2000 to see
the movie..
Also I heard
of an announcement regarding recordable DVD coming on the
3rd of september..I
Don't expect a big announcement, but you never know...
I feel that recordable DVD is THE killer app for DVD. Not Titanic.
Everyone
I tell DVD about says the same thing, "Can you record??"
I don't know
why you'd want to record Jerry Springer in digital glory,
but people have the
VCR paradigm in their heads, and DVD has to
follow that paradigm to succeed.
Thanks for listening,
DvdBoy.
HELLO!!!! The clue phone is ringing guys, time to pick
it up!! Pan
and Scan only DVD'S DON'T SELL! They never
have and never will. I have to join
in with the recent chorus of
disapproval regarding MGM'S latest batch of DVD'S
and
corporate decisions.
Bad Move #1:
No catalog title should EVER
be released P&S only.
I will NOT buy Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and know few
who
will. I wouldn't even rent it. Why should I?? If I want
to see a lousy version
of the movie, I'll rent the VHS or
watch it on cable, or DSS.
Bad Move
#2
No 16x9 enhancement. I cannot yet take advantage of 16x9, but
will someday,
and I don't want to buy a 5th copy of 2001..(1VHS, 2LD, 1DVD).
A 16x9 enhancement
would have meant a new transfer, which we all, even those
without a 16x9 TV, could
benefit from.
That I think that is the crux of the issue.. A P&S transfer
of Chitty Chitty
existed, and they did not have to remaster it for DVD this way,
just dump the P&S
Chitty they had on to DVD. They would also have to remaster
2001, if they
were to put out a 16x9 2001. This way they save lots of $$$$$ and
charge just
as much and then get you to buy the remastered version when they get
around to it.
The best way to stop this and encourage proper versions to begin
with is
NOT to buy inferior disks.. Like I said, not Chitty for me... But 2001
I
cannot wait for and don't expect anyone else will... In fact I am of to
COSTCO
after this post to pick my copy up, 7$ off retail and a day
before street date..
I do love COSTCO...
Thanks for listening,
DvdBoy.
I keep hearing that DIVX will be dead shortly after Christmas. I have
to disagree..
It will NEVER die.. It will simply morf into something more acceptable,
Big companies don't sink hundreds of millions of dollars into a product
simply
to abandon it because no one buys it! They CHANGE their crappy
product into
one more people want.. DIVX will change into a more open
DVD product. They
will, and now are, offering Widescreen. That is
Just the beginning.. They can,
and will, survive in some capacity.
I wish they would die, but they have to
try hard enough to aviod the
shareholder lawsuits. So expect DIVX to cling on and get in the way for a while..
The part the REALLY pisses me off is that they will roll out DIVX
Nationally
before they change, or fold, or morf, or whatever they end
up doing. This will
confuse the public, who are, let's face it, easily
confused, and when you confuse
a consumer, you lose a consumer.
Thanks for listening,
DvdBoy.
