Starring:
First, let me say the **** rating for this film applies only if you
like melodrama,
because Somewhere in Time is melodrama at it's
most unabashed. The plot device
requires suspension of all scientific
knowledge and the acceptance that in this
particular world, one can simply
will himself back through time. It may be hard
for a physicist to
forgive the scientific silliness, but if you can forgive it,
a great romance
awaits.
The picture is poor for a DVD, but a 100 fold improvement over the washed
out,
grainy atrocity that is the VHS copy. Long know as one of the worst VHS
transfers
in history, Somewhere in Time will never be a "Show-off" DVD. It is
simply
a movie, and NOT an experience, like The Rock, or Contact. Those
looking for
such titles should steer clear. I have seen better looking VHS tapes.
The sound
is clean 2 channel monophonic. There is little to work out your
receiver or speakers.
But like I said, that is not what this film is about. It is
about people talking
and the sound is more than good enough for that.
This movie is a definite BUY for the legion fans saddled with the horrible
VHS
transfer and a RENT for lovers of melodrama and old fashioned romance.
And a
PASS for anyone who can NEVER forgive such silliness..
