WOW! That's the only word that describes some
of the action scenes in Mr. Nice Guy,
the newest Jackie Chan film to reach our
shores. The plot, what there is of one, is little more than
a retread of many
other films. Our hero, appropriately named Jackie, is a chef in Melbourne, Australia,
and while
walking down the street a beautiful woman runs into him while fleeing
from gangsters. Jackie saves the day spectacularly,
and spends the rest
of the movie escaping from the bad guys and trying to top his last stunt.. He does
both,
we have fun, he does some MAJOR damage to Melbourne, and then the movie
ends.. I just wonder what would happen if
they ever bothered to write a REAL
screenplay for one of these movies..
The DVD is Very nice. The 2.35:1 aspect
ratio is nicely framed and VERY much needed, this movie would be
unwatchable
panned and scanned.... The sound was good and clean, but not spectacular. I am NOT
currently set up with
rear speakers, and watched the DVD in 3 channel analog
pro logic mode. This movie is a BUY for fans and a RENT for those in
the mood
for some mindless fun.
