Well , MGM has postponed the P&S releases of Fish Called Wanda
And Kingpin. I can't help but hope that this is to allow them to prepare
widescreen editions of these films.. Kingpin may have been shot Super35,
but it was intended to be seen at 2:35:1.. perhaps the success of the Farelly brothers
next movie, There's Something About Mary, made MGM decide to put out a special
Edition.
I saw Good will hunting on LD last night.. I am Boston Irish, in economic exile here
in Vermont, and I must say that it left me both homesick, and wishing for a great DVD
version. But Not the 40$ version I hear rumors of...
I still have yet to see DIVX.. They are always playing DVD's instead, saying that they
are the same and look the same, and it is EASIER to play a DVD because of the phone
line needed... YES! CC has finally admitted a DIVX flaw.. Well, a CC lackey did anyway.
I also got the Clinton Grandjury report from NETFLIX today.. I wish they'd put some
kind of menu or a chapter list somewhere, but for $0.02, I can't really complain, but
there is a VERY noticeable hiss....

I am told by my web server that my update problems should be a thing of the past
now, I have had days at a time where I could not update due to server problems. Again,
like the Clinton DVD, it's free, so I won't complain too loud...

Sat Sept. 26 1998

Hello, sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I have been away.. Saw
Divx today at CC in both Nashua, NH and Burlington VT.. They were playing DVDS in them, so I could
not see the famed raindrops but I did run into 2 nice, helpful sales men who did not lie!!!!
I was SHOCKED!!! Anyway, neither seemed to thrilled with the response they'd recived from coustomers..
DREAMWORKS IN!!!
Now if they release a good movie on DVD we'd be all set..

Boy there hasn't been much going on in the DVD world.. I bought the American
Graffiti DVD and loved it, review to follow, but WOW!
I made my monthly trip in to Circuit City to harass the sales men and
to see how they are selling DVD. I asked one sales man
if I would be seeing DIVX there soon, he just shrugged his
shoulders and asked me if I was interested in getting it. I
told him I already owned a DVD played. He said that it was too bad DIVX would
make it obsolete.. I laughed and said it's too bad you work for no
pay selling crappy products... He got flushed.. see my daily column for
more on this..
Also, I saw Rush Hour today.. I have never liked Chris Tucker, I thought he ruined
5th element, but I LOVED THIS... I am a HUGE Jackie Chan fan and this is the
best film he has released in America..
